Medical Malpractice and Public Liability Insurance for Paramedics

This new and improved scheme re-launched June 2018, provides independent Medical Malpractice & Public Liability cover for Paramedics in the United Kingdom. This is the only product recommended by the College of Paramedics.

Who Should Apply

This insurance facility will appeal to Paramedics or Emergency Medical Technicians who are personally accountable when working privately or as an independent self-employed practitioner. Premiums vary according to qualification with rates for Paramedics, Specialist Paramedics, Advanced or Consultant Paramedics, and Emergency Medical Technicians, First responders etc.

Scope of Cover

The policy applies to a wide range of Paramedic practice outside of the indemnity provisions of the “Clinical Negligence Scheme for General Practice” Event Work, Medico-Legal Reporting, Training, Offshore, Search & Rescue, and Repatriation Services etc including Agency or other non-NHS work where alternative indemnity is not provided.

Unlike indemnity provided by Medical Defence Organisations (MDO’s) this cover does not rely on the discretion of the indemnity provider and is portable allowing the Paramedic to work for one or more employers within their individual scope of practice. Please refer to the Summary of Cover available as a download from this page to ensure this insurance is suitable for your needs. Notable exclusions are listed on page 6 of the Summary.
