What is makeup artist insurance?
This is specialist insurance for makeup artists to cover you for the unique risks associated with advising on and applying specialist makeup and cosmetic procedures.
You can tailor your cover depending on the specific nature of your business. You may need more extensive cover if you are a freelance or mobile makeup artist, for example, or if you offer semi-permanent makeup procedures.
What makeup artists need insurance?
Makeup artists work in very close proximity with their clients. Your work is specialist and highly delicate, and it often relies on an expensive kit with valuable equipment.
No matter how careful you are, accidents can happen. And should a client ever make a claim against you, or should you ever need to replace stolen or damaged equipment, your makeup artist insurance policy can cover any and all costs that may arise.
All makeup artists should consider public liability insurance, as there are many things that could go wrong in your line of work:
In any of these cases, a client may choose to make a claim against you. And if they do so, your public liability insurance could cover any compensation they may be due, as well as any legal fees that may arise following a dispute.
If you are a freelance makeup artist, your makeup artist insurance can cover you for any accidents or incidents that may occur during a home visit, or while working on a client’s property. For example, if you accidentally spill a product on a client’s carpet, your insurance can cover any cleaning or repairs that may be necessary.
Your insurance will also cover your kit and your equipment when it is in storage, in transit, or otherwise outside of your standard business premises.
If you provide semi-permanent makeup or cosmetic services, including derma- or micro-pigmentations, then you will need additional treatment risk insurance as part of your makeup artist insurance package.
This will cover you and your clients should any complications arise as a result of your treatment, including infections, allergic reactions, and migration of pigment. If something goes wrong, your insurance can cover your legal fees, along with any compensation payments that may be due.
When you work with us, we will first take the time to understand who you are, what you do, and what sort of clients you work with. This will help us understand the unique risks you face as a makeup artist, which means we can help you find the cover you need at a truly competitive price.
