It is unlikely that your current home insurance policy will cover your Shepherd’s Hut. If you want cover against fire, flood, theft and other risks, we will help you find specialist insurance at a competitive price.

What is included in our shepherd’s hut insurance?

  • Shepherd’s hut buildings insurance, including cover for accidental damage
  • Contents cover, plus optional cover for accidental damage
  • Optional personal valuables cover up to £1,500 – for additional items such as awnings, barbecues, tables and chairs, and so on
  • Public liability cover (for example, any personal injuries your guests may receive if you rent your shepherd’s hut out as a holiday let)
  • Optional personal belongings cover for holiday let and Airbnb guests
  • Loss of letting income due to unexpected events. We can provide specialist cover for long-term lets
  • Zero excess for all claims

What is excluded in our shepherd’s hut insurance?

  • Buildings sum insured exceeding £65,000
  • Contents sum insured exceeding £5,000
  • Personal valuables sum insured exceeding £1,500
  • Guests’ personal belongings exceeding £500
  • Huts not made of wood or metal with wood or metal roof
  • Huts used for commercial purposes other than a home office, holiday let and/or bed and breakfast

Clare joined James Hallam in 2022 as a team manager and was more recently promoted to Divisional Director for the newly formed Personal Lines Division taking on responsibility for the whole personal lines business. Claire joined James Hallam in January 2023 as a team manager for our specialist team that handles beach huts, shepherds’ huts, holiday homes and other specialist areas in Personal lines. Claire previously worked for a leading direct insurer for 18 years, where she managed a large personal lines team and spent 3 years working in learning and capability aspect, so has a passion for building and developing her team to deliver the best possible customer experience.
