What is restaurant business insurance?
Restaurant insurance is a specialist form of business insurance that is designed to cover restaurants from the unique risks associated with preparing and serving food to members of the public.
Most restaurant insurance packages include public liability insurance and employer’s liability insurance. This will cover your staff and your customers for a range of risks, including cuts and burns sustained from preparing food, to illnesses and allergic reactions as a result of consuming your food.
If you employ staff, you have a legal requirement to get employer’s liability insurance. Yet even beyond your legal obligations, all restaurants should consider getting some form of insurance cover.
Without adequate cover, you could be personally liable for any losses your restaurant business experiences. Whether it is loss of income following a fire or a flood, or legal action following an outbreak of food poisoning, the costs can soon mount up, meaning that even a small setback could end up costing you thousands.
Dedicated restaurant insurance will cover you, your staff, and your customers from a range of risks, ensuring you will be able to recover from almost any unexpected situation.
A restaurant insurance package can include the following:
The level of cover you need may vary depending on the scale of your business. For instance, if you run a commercial restaurant or kitchen in a hotel, we can help you with specialist commercial restaurant insurance, to cover the increased costs and risks associated with repairing and replacing large-scale kitchens.
All restaurants are different, so an off-the-shelf restaurant insurance package may not cover you for all the risks you face. Or it may include certain forms of cover that do not apply to you, which means you could end up paying too much for cover you do not really need.
Choose James Hallam and we will take the time to get to know you, your restaurant, and your customers. Once we fully understand the unique risks you face, we will design a bespoke restaurant insurance package that meets all your needs at a truly competitive price.
