Hair and Beauty insurance

James Hallam is an independent, family-run Lloyd’s broker. Since 1982, we have helped hundreds of hairdressers and beauticians across the UK get the insurance they need at a competitive price. We can help you whether you are running a single hair or beauty salon, or a chain of salons. We can also help you if you are an independent sole trader doing home visits.

What is hair and beauty insurance?

This is a specialist form of business insurance that covers the unique risks you face when administering beauty treatments to customers. As well as the usual cover for your business premises, stock, and equipment, hair and beauty insurance can include specialist forms of public liability insurance to cover the risks associated with certain beauty treatments.

What choose James Hallam?

Choose James Hallam and we will take the time to get to know you, the services you provide, and your customers. Once we fully understand the unique risks you face, we will design a bespoke hair and beauty insurance package that meets all your needs at a truly competitive price.

What does hair salon insurance cover?

The cover can be tailored to meet your unique needs, and the specific services you provide. Most policies will include:

  • Cover for your business premises
  • Stock and equipment, whether you own it or lease it.
  • Business interruption insurance, which can cover your overheads if you ever need to temporarily close following an insured event, such as a fire or a break-in.
  • Public liability cover is a core part of any hair and beauty insurance policy. If any customer ever has an allergic reaction to a product they use, or if you accidentally injure a customer while administering a treatment, this will cover any legal fees, as well as any compensation your customer may be due.
  • If you employ any staff, then you are legally required to get employer’s liability insurance. This will cover you for any claims your staff may make against you for illnesses or injuries they sustained while at work.

Insurance for independent beauticians or hairdressers

We can also tailor a hair and beauty insurance policy to meet your needs as an independent sole-trader beautician, stylist, or hairdresser. Once again, this cover can be tailored to reflect your specific circumstances, and the specific services you provide. Whether you do home visits or invite customers to your home, we can help you get exactly the cover you need.

We are here to help.

Louise Kennon

Scotland Team Manager

Louise’s insurance career began in 1999, working initially as a Trainee in Private Clients within a community based Brokerage. She duly became a Commercial Account Executive in 2010. The Brokerage was acquired by James Hallam in 2017. Following further local acquisitions, a major restructure of the operations in Scotland was undertaken leading to a dedicated SME Department being formed in Dumfries.
