Jewellers insurance

Since 1982, independent Lloyd’s broker James Hallam has provided specialist insurance products for jewellers across the UK. Whether you are running a single jewellery shop, or a chain of jewellers, you can depend on us to arrange the cover you need at a truly competitive price.

What is jewellers insurance?

Sometimes referred to as jewellers block insurance, this is specialist insurance cover for the unique risks faced by businesses in the jewellery trade, whether they are retail, wholesale, or manufacturing. Jewellers block insurance can also cover associated trades, such as pawnbrokers.

It is not always straightforward to get the cover you need as a jeweller. First, there is the question of value. It takes an expert eye, and a deep appreciation of the market, to attach an accurate value to any of the items you sell. And because your stock is so valuable, jewellers often face a much higher risk of theft compared to other businesses.

Because of these complexities, and the comparative risks you face, an off-the-shelf retail insurance product will not give you the cover you need. Only dedicated jewellers block insurance will give you peace of mind that you will be covered for the unique risks you face as a jeweller.

What does jewellers block insurance cover?

  • Buildings and Contents Insurance – Cover for your business premises, and your stock, whether it is on display, in storage, or in transit.
  • Employer’s Liability Insurance – Cover for your staff, for any illnesses or injuries they may sustain while working for you.
  • Public Liability Insurance – Cover for customers, contractors, delivery drivers, or any other members of the public for any injuries or other losses they may sustain on your premises.
  • Business Interruption Insurance – Enabling you to cover your overheads should an insured event, such as a fire, flood, or theft, ever temporarily prevent you from opening.
  • Extended Cover – Your jewellers block insurance can also provide extended cover for specialist requirements, such as diamond processing, for shows and exhibitions, and for cash-in-transit operations.

Why choose James Hallam for your jewellers insurance?

We have been crafting bespoke insurance packages for jewellers and associated trades since 1982. In that time, we have developed a thorough understanding of every aspect of the jewellery trade. Yet we will still take the time to get to know you and your business, so that we can tailor a specialist jewellers block insurance policy that meets all of your needs as a competitive price.

Following further local acquisitions, a major restructure of the operations in Scotland was undertaken leading to a dedicated SME Department being formed in Dumfries.
