Butcher Shop insurance

James Hallam is an independent, family-run Lloyd’s broker. Since 1982 we have worked closely with UK butchers to deliver a tailored insurance and risk management service that will meet all of your needs at a competitive price.

What is butcher shop insurance?

Get tailored business insurance to cover the unique risks you face as a butcher’s shop. Butcher shop insurance can offer essential protection for you, your employees, your customers, your business premises, and your equipment.

Specialist butchers insurance is ideal for any type of butcher business, whether you are a traditional high street butcher or a commercial butcher. We can arrange for bespoke cover whether you are running a single butcher shop, or a much larger operation involving multiple premises.

Butcher shop insurance can also provide cover if you prepare food for immediate consumption, such as scotch eggs, pre-cooked meat, or sandwiches.

What does butcher shop insurance cover?

  • Buildings and Contents Insurance – Cover for your butchers shop, along with any associated storage units. Also, cover for all of your butchers equipment, whether you own it or lease it, and for your stock. The insurance extends to covering your stock in storage, for instances such as power outages resulting in spoiling.
  • Product Liability – If a customer claims to have received food poisoning having eaten meat that you sold them, butcher shop insurance can provide cover for any legal expenses, along with any compensation they may be due.
  • Public and Employer’s Liability – All businesses have a legal duty to get employer’s liability insurance, which covers your staff for any illnesses or injuries they may sustain while working for you. Public liability insurance covers for any injuries or other losses contractors, customers, delivery drivers, or other members of the public may experience on your premises.

Why choose James Hallam for your butcher shop insurance

A one-size-fits-all approach to insurance just will not cut it for butchers. This is why we will work closely with you to fully understand your business, your customers, and the unique risks you face, so that we can tailor a butcher shop insurance package that truly meets your needs, and your budget.

Louise Kennon

Scotland Team Manager

Louise’s insurance career began in 1999, working initially as a Trainee in Private Clients within a community based Brokerage. She duly became a Commercial Account Executive in 2010. The Brokerage was acquired by James Hallam in 2017. Following further local acquisitions, a major restructure of the operations in Scotland was undertaken leading to a dedicated SME Department being formed in Dumfries.
