Claims

Incident Date: 31/07/2020

Claim circumstances: Our client’s site caught fire following a lightning strike resulting in the loss of a significant amount of vehicle stock which had been stored in the open and damage to the racking that held the stock.  Around 100 racks in total were destroyed by the fire. A business interruption claim was also submitted.

Following notification of the claim we immediately contacted the insurer to request that a Loss Adjuster be on site immediately to assist the insured with their claim.

We also instructed our own Loss Assessor to attend to provide support and assistance to the insured to gather all the information the insurer required to enable them to deal with this claim as promptly as possible and to ensure the best possible outcome for our client.

Our Loss Assessor provided assistance to our client collating all the information that the insurer required, and he was able to also provide guidance and advice to our client.  He was also able to help the client understand the rationale behind some of the requests for documentation that the insurer’s loss adjuster required.

Having our own claims team working with the client director in the handling of the claim meant that figures and supporting documents were produced and shared with the insurer’s loss adjuster in a format that made it clear and concise where our client’s loss had occurred to material damage and loss of profits. Clear communication and timeous responses between all parties ensured that interim payments were made swiftly, which helped the insured during this difficult time.

Although this was a high value claim it was concluded within 9 months of receipt with the following payments being made.

Property Damage: £474,044.20
Business Interruption: £375,000.00
Total settlement: £849,044.20
